Is Liberty Reserve Scam?

If you're looking for an asnwer to whether LibertyReserve online payment system is a scam or not, I'll let you know. Quite simply, it doesn't seem to be. On the contrary, it looks like a trusted payment system with highly advanced security features and low fees - sometimes even lower than those of e-gold, which was a long time leader in this industry when it came to offering the lowest transaction costs.

So, if you haven't already, you might as well create a LR account right now. Their cool Wallet system makes it really easy to pay for goods and services offered by the growing list of merchants accepting this type of online payment.

Do note that there are a number of so-called "HYIP investment" programs that accept LibertyReserve. In over 99% of cases they are scams. Do NOT waste your money this way! They have nothing to do with LibertyReserve payment system itself, however. HYIP programs simply choose to use LR due to anonymous nature of its transactions.

Do you know which currency provider is the best to use to fund your LR account? There are several recommended by the site and I am not sure which ones are good and which ones may be unstable.

Andrew said...

Most of them should be trustworthy enough, since they're listed on LR website. I've used SuperChange personally.

The ones which are members of GDCA should all be trustworthy enough.

Billyjones said...

Superchange is solid for exchanging different e-currency but I am trying to find a site that will accept bank wires. Does anyone know a reliable, secure site that will allow me to buy LR with a bank wire?

(Are Goldexchange.eu or moneycentralmarket.com reliable?)

Don't make me laugh. Of course this "COMMERCEBARTER" thing you're talking about is a scam. All internet HYIPs are scams and ponzi schemes and it's your own fault for putting your money in them. What does LibertyReserve have to do with it?

Anonymous said...

Yes i have heard about e-cash pro,Please dont do it.It is a scam from a man that call itself Emmanuel Samson from Nigeria. He has duped me of about $214.He will ask you to send money to a particular LR acount and latter tell you about the trigering of the account that should send another money into e-cash pro account all these are fraud.

Anonymous said...

Here is the conversations between me and the man.

Dear friend,
After careful and painstaking investigations and analysis of the causes and solutions for your account, we have been able to come up with two alternative solutions. This two solutions will surely solve the problem.
OPTION ONE - Contracted Option.: This option entails the solving of the problem through a special Anti-Spyware company known as the Terminators. This company charges $307.00 per account number that is infected with the Spy-Jack. If this option is applied, your money will be moved from the Escrow Account to your liberty reserve account within three days of your payment. Their account number is :- U4253868
OPTION TWO - Panquine Option.: This option requires you to be patience for three months. Throughout this period, the whole money due to you shall always be credited to the Esrows account, and as soon as the period has elapsed, the total money due to you shall be moved back to your liberty reserve account at the third month. For this option, you are Not required to make any payment. You only have to be patience.
Please always remember that the "E-Cash Pro" is sold with 100% money back guarantee. So, choose any option that is suitable for you. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Yours sincerely,
Emmanuel Samson.

liberty reserve is a total scam, and the e cash pro- soft ware too. my class mate have already checked and believed.

Anonymous said...

OK just to clarify. LibertyReserve is the PAYMENT SYSTEM and it is not a scam.

All HYIPs you might have seen that accept LibertyReserve as a PAYMENT OPTION are NOT RELATED with LibertyReserve.

I've funded LR via trusted exchangers and also used it to buy stuff online. No problems whatsoever ^^

Do not signup for anything that asks you to "invest" money or whatever since all that crap is internet scams. LR doesn't ask you to invest anything, but scams which accept LR as a payment option might - don't fall for that.

Just sayin'!

I have reason to believe the following companies are connected: aglocomails.com, boodaq, cashmails.net, bankomails.com, hellishmails.com, 1centemails.com, club4you.net, and LR. Over a week ago I sent an email to LR asking about the validity one of their merchants (aglocomails.com), and as of this date have not received a response. By the way, after satisfying the aglocomails payout requirement of $20,000 accrued for a "free account" member --- I have not been paid and do not see a way to request payment. I have also emailed aglocomails through their support link for 5 days straight days, and no response from them either.

I am tired of these companies that promise the world to you, then completely renege on their promises even after compliance has been completed to the letter.

Andrew said...

Yes, AglocoMails and all paid-to-click companies which offer ridiculous rewards like $1 for a click are clearly scams. You should stay away from them. I highly doubt they have anything to do with LR though, except using them as a payment system.

Andrew said...

Interesting info. I agree, any company that spams is illegal!

But was that a normal link or someone's referral link? You know LR has a referral system that pays nicely so I could see some people spamming their ref links for a few bucks - pathetic I know but some people do it.

It's just that I never got a spam e-mail promoting LR.

Today is the third email (using their ticket method) to rquest an investigation of a transfer fund of $20.00 that a merchant did not received, and not resolving this issue appears the next day all my remaining balance was gone and Liberty Reserve just says it may be my computer (I have my anti-virus update and very good one)and they can't give me an institutional academic answer to what happen, they have all the tracking transaction, they told f I want that info is have to be to an court order, I don't now but every bank I have account when an issue like this happens they compile all the info an handle to me, why so suspicious? If you don't get scammmed by the merchant Liberty catches on the way , the money stays in the same pocket, and Andrew base on all the comments you place here there is no doubt you are a golden sponsor of Liberty and also, who nows, benificiary...."

I opened an account with 1dailyfunds on 12/16/2009 through Liberty Reserve with promise on website to pay 350% after 5 days. As of January 9th, 2010, i do not see my $500 principal or any interest payments promised. I sent e-mail from 1daily funds site and was re-routed.No e-mail response so far from 1daily funds. They have no customer contact #s for a company that promise people so much profits. Something is wrong. I believe that 1daily funds and many HYIPs are SCAMs. I also suspect Liberty Reserve; yet, they claim to be nuetral. All these HYIPs are related to Liberty Reserve. Wow so many idiots in these comments

1) liberty reserve sends you no emails. anything you get claiming to be them is a nigerian trying to phish your account. did you just start using the internet yesterday?

2) every single HYIP is a scam or ponzi scheme. anybody who says otherwise is lying. jesus tapdancing christ, didn't Bernie Madoff and the thousands of investment scams busted in the last year teach you morons anything?

3) liberty reserve is just a way to anonymously move around money. HYIP scams use them for payment, because there's no way to do chargebacks once you pay somebody it's done. once the HYIP scammer runs away with your money, obviously LR is not going to reply to your moron emails 'HELP IM FCKING STUPID AND BELIEVED SOME GUY ON THE INTERNETS WHO GUARANTEED I COULD MAKE $3,000 IN A DAY GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK' they have nothing to do with it.

4) there's also PECUNIX, HOO pay, webmoney (may allow chargebacks), Global Digital Pay, c-gold (e-gold is dead), strictpay and countless other digital currencies but LR is the easiest to buy/find unless you're in russia and can pick up webmoney in any store.

no exchangers take credit cards without paying 20% (revokable payment), but some let you walk into any bank and make a cash deposit on the spot to buy for only $2.

So, the bottom line is "LIBERTYRESERVE" A SCAM OR IS IT ON THE LEVEL???

Anonymous said...

Andrews comment.
All the investment goes through Libertyreserve.
Let me show you how scams work.
You will find almost all the internet based companies are not directly investing money. WHY that is the question you should ask before investing.
Because it is safer to play with your money, why? because if they decide not to pay they can point the finger at Libertyreserve and I believe Libertyreserve is a phantom company. I can see there website with pictures and address but no phone numbers.

Anonymous said...

I WAS GETTING READY TO INVEST WITH LR, THANK GOD I READ THESE SCAM REPORTS FIRST, MY MONEY STAYS IN MY POCKET

SiteArchitect said...

I personally don't blame anyone for giving a HYIP a try. Maxhyip.com and Hothyips.com allow you to review, and follow HYIPs that are not paying out or having problems. Many of you should probably get this straight. Liberty Reserve (LR) is a phantom company because it's supposed to be, and that's why we like it. It is a reserve, not a bank, and not a currency exchanger.

The popularity with the LR is due to the ability to place funds in the reserve, and via an exchanger, make those funds accessible from any country that you may travel, or to loved ones after your dead. At any given time the account is NOT subject to any legal jurisdiction that would jeopardize your fortunes. Some people have over $100,000 USD in an account. If I was going through a divorce or needed to pass money to my children, LR is the place to hold it. In the USA, legal jurisdiction means giving up what you own to the power of the courts. Many countries that Treaty with the USA don't have jurisdiction over LR.

I would not call any of you morons or stupid. Simply question where could an admin invest money to get an return on investment (ROI) greater than 3% in 5 days or less? Most HYIPs sites are replicated sites, a simple PHP-scripted site. Relax on LR, because I use LR doesn't make me a criminal, nor doesn't it make me a criminal because I accept LR.

Many of you cannot seem to define a chargeback. This is a process of reversing a credit/debit card transaction because VISA, and Mastercard will not allow their customers to fraudulently purchase goods or services. The issue is that when digital goods or a delivery must be made of a product, while a product is in transit; If the customer or buyer requests that the transaction be reversed due to a misrepresentation by the seller or merchant. The transaction is reversed while the customer or buyer keeps the product when it arrives, rather than returning it. PayPal is notorious for this action because PayPal wants their sellers to give PayPal the delivery tracking number before releasing the funds. In reality, this is called Cash On Delivery (C.O.D.) in the USA. PayPal is trustworthy for written contracts, and digital products only, and only up to $9,999.99 USD.

Now as for your HYIPs, anyone can purchase the PHP script, that's all it takes, and is the reason why some of the HYIPs look a little different, but the language is the same. A good HYIP would be supported, and not just floating on a promise.

Keep this in mind.
